Sandra González-Orbegoso is a consultant at Caldwell. She has over 15 years of experience, mainly in human resources management and consulting.
She started her career in the non-profit sector and entered the world of executive search in 2004 as an associate at Heidrick and Struggles, where she participated in the development of local and regional strategies for different industries with a special focus on consumer goods and extractive industries.
Sandra joined Rio Tinto in 2007 to lead the talent attraction process of “La Granja,” a start-up copper project in Peru. She then led the human resources manager function and in 2011 assumed the human resources planning manager position. In this role, she was accountable for the development of the mid and long-term manpower strategy, which included workforce planning for all stages of the project and the design and implementation of development and training programs to meet current and future requirements in compliance with the business strategy and commitments with the community and government. While at Rio Tinto she also participated in global initiatives regarding the development of new learning models and business competencies in developing countries (Asia, Africa and South and Central America).
Sandra holds a bachelor´s degree in international relations and economic development from Mount Holyoke College in Massachusetts, and is pursuing a master’s in gender, development and education from the Institute of Education, London University, UK.
