Maria Cristina Mejia is a partner in Bogota’s Caldwell office and a member of the Industrial, Professional Services, Retail, Consumer & eCommerce, and Technology practices. With solid professional, as well as executive search credentials, she is adept at identifying leaders to capitalize on opportunities in a wide range of industries. With nearly 10 years of executive search experience, Maria Cristina has worked with a variety of regional and global companies in recruiting senior executives. She has successfully placed presidents, managing directors, country leaders, directors, and executives responsible for marketing, sales, finance, technology and human resources.
Before joining Caldwell, Maria was partner at CTPartners and previously was with Heidrick & Struggles, where she led the team that launched its operations in Colombia. Prior to her career in executive search, she was a telecommunications and media executive, where she was president of Celumovil, Colombia’s leading cellular company. Previously, she served as Colombia’s vice minister of telecommunications. She was also director of Andiarios, the National Publishers Association of Written Press; director of Inravisión, Colombia’s National Institute of Radio and TV; and financial and administrative vice president of the Chamber of Commerce of Bogotá. While at Universidad de los Andes, she developed and served as director of the University’s first postgraduate journalism program.
Maria Cristina received her legal degree from Universidad Externado de Colombia, where she went on to pursue postgraduate studies in public law and served as an acting professor. She also pursued postgraduate studies at University of Paris.
