Lisa Kaplowitz is a special advisor in the Value Creation Advisory Practice at Caldwell. She is also an assistant professor of professional practice in the Finance and Economics Department at Rutgers Business School, where she teaches undergraduate and MBA students the fundamentals of corporate finance, with a focus on applying these concepts to decisions typically encountered in corporations and investment banking. She has over 20 years of experience as an investment banker and CFO, during which, she has established a record of growing businesses and increasing profitability by creating focused strategies, reducing costs and streamlining operations.
Lisa began her career as an investment banker at Alex. Brown & Sons in the mid-1990s, covering financial institutions, and later moved to Bank of America Merrill Lynch, where she focused on retail and consumer products companies. She then transitioned to the company side, where she served as the Treasurer of Bed Bath & Beyond for 8 years, and subsequently, as CFO of various private equity-backed start-ups.
She later created Kaplowitz Advisory Group, LLC to support executives, at all stages of growth, with using finance to help direct corporate strategy and decision making. Specifically, Lisa helps companies with the tactics of strategic planning, including execution, implementation, alignment, prioritization of initiatives and measurement of effectiveness. In addition, she provides executive management assistance in all functional areas, including operations, finance, legal and supply chain management.
Lisa holds a BA in economics and international relations from Brown University and an MBA from Northwestern’s Kellogg School of Management.
