Biography

Richard Stein is a partner in Caldwell Partners’ New York office and a member of the Financial Services Practice. With more than 25 years of recruiting experience, he is one of the industry’s top consultants, having recruited executives at the most-senior levels across the Americas, Europe and the Middle East.

Richard’s expertise lies in the financial services industry, with a particular emphasis on areas such as private banking, wealth management, risk, equities, capital markets, consumer banking, technology and operations. A trusted advisor to his clients, Richard’s extensive experience in strategic and competitive analysis gives him an ability to explore his clients’ talent needs from both a short and long-term perspective.

Prior to joining Caldwell Partners, Richard was senior partner of North Atlantic at Global Sage, a boutique firm specializing in financial services search and leadership. While there, he built and ran the Americas and European arm of the Hong Kong-based firm, focusing the North American franchise on executive search, corporate intelligence and management assessment.

Previously, he was a senior client partner in the Capital Markets Practice at Korn/Ferry International. Before that, he founded Futures International, which later merged with the Whitney Group. His early career in executive search was spent at Diamond Associates and then Options Group.

Richard is often quoted in the press, including such publications as The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Daily Deal, Derivatives Week, International Finance Review and others.

Richard holds a bachelor’s degree in history, politics and English literature from the University of Buckingham and also attended the University Libre de Lille in France.
